Arce, Hart go Undefeated at Fall Classic
9/13/2004

St. Bonaventure senior Mario Arce and sophomore Andrew Hart (pictured) both won all three of their singles matches at the SBU Fall Classic held at the University at Buffalo.  Hart and Arce won each match in straight sets over opponents from University at Buffalo, Niagara University and Youngstown State University.

The tournament was played in a "mock-duel" format meaning the schools played each other in the same format as a regular team match but no final team score was tallied.  If a team score were kept, the Bonnies would have won against Youngstown State 7-0 and Niagara and Buffalo 4-3.    Andrew Hart

Senior Nikhil Murali won 2 singles and doubles matches (with partner Alejandro Nery) despite multiple injuries that forced him to retire from his singles match against Niagara.  Senior Sajeel Qureshi also won 2 singles matches and partnered with Hart for a win in doubles however the tandem had back-to-back 9-8 losses against Niagara and Buffalo.

Sophmores Dejan Stankovic and Nery aboth scored 2 doubles wins and Stankovic had a singles win to go with his doubles wins with Arce.  Nery scored two singles wins.  With Murali being injured, both Stankovic and Nery played at the #2 and #3 positions and Murali at #4.

Two of the Bonnies newcomers - senior Matt Cronmiller and sophmore Sean Horan saw their first Division 1 action this past weekend.  Cronmiller scored a solid win over Niagara.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Bonnies will have to improve its consistency and intensity from the past weekend as it travels to Princeton University for the Princeton Invitational.  Many top schools in the region will be competing as well as the Bonnies.
